Portable Toilets for Weddings

Wedding planning can be stressful, especially when it comes to figuring out what amenities are needed for your venue. While not as fun to plan as other rentals, getting portable toilets for your wedding doesn’t need to be stressful. Here are some things to consider when exploring porta-potty rentals for your wedding.

How Many Porta Potties Do You Need For A Wedding?

We typically recommend having one portable toilet per 25 guests. This helps the usage of each toilet be relatively low, which reduces the likelihood of them getting dirty and providing a bad experience for your guests. No one wants to have to clean a portable toilet during their wedding!

We also recommend renting accessible units instead of standard units. Accessible units typically provide a bit more space and aren’t quite as cramped as standard units. If you have older family members attending your event, we recommend having at least one accessible unit to ensure everyone has access to the restroom.

Portable Toilet vs Bathroom Trailer?

If you can’t decide between a portable toilet or a bathroom trailer rental for your wedding, that’s okay! Here are some key factors to consider:

  • Budget: Restroom trailer rentals can be quite expensive if you’re more cost-conscious, a portable toilet will be your best bet. Portable toilets typically cost between $150-$300 a unit whereas a trailer can cost anywhere from $1500-$5000.
  • Amenities: If you’re looking for something that has running water, a trailer is what you’re looking for. While most portable toilet rental companies offer hand washing stations, they are typically human-powered.

Portable Toilet Placement at Weddings:

Regardless of if you get a portable toilet or restroom trailer for your wedding, placement is important to consider. We typically recommend taking the Three S’s into consideration: Sight, Scent, and Sound.

For Sight, we recommend placing the units out of the main line of sight at the wedding, behind or alongside a building is perfect! For Scent, we recommend talking to whoever you are looking to rent units from, to see if they have additional scent products they can put in the units to avoid any unwanted smells drafting into the venue. For Sound, similar to sight, we recommend having the rentals placed far enough away that they are away from the festivities but still close enough to access.

Regardless of what you choose for your wedding, always talk to the rental company about what decorations you can put inside the portable toilets or trailers. We’ve had clients put flowers inside our units to add a personal touch!
