Planning an event can be stressful. Whether it’s a backyard BBQ, or a multi-day festival this article can help you determine how to go about renting portable toilets for your event. Working with a trusted industry professional, like Wasted* PBC, for your portable toilet event rental can bring a lot of clarity to a complex part of the event planning process.
How many portable toilets do I need for my event?
Here at Wasted* PBC, we recommend renting 2 portable toilets per 100 attendees to your event. For events with alcohol being served, we recommend increasing your rental number by 10-20% to accommodate for increased use. 2 portable toilets per 100 guests seems like a lot. However, this baseline helps keep bathroom lines short and reduces the likelihood of the units getting dirty throughout the length of your event.
What are the different types of portable toilets available for events?
There are 5 main types of rentals we recommend for events:
- Standard Portable toilet: These are your basic portable toilets with a urinal, perfect for events of all sizes due to their versatility.
- Accessible Portable Toilets: These units are similar to standard units, however they are larger and provide more space for those that need it. We recommend having 1 accessible per 4 units rented. For smaller events, we recommend having at least 1 accessible unit to ensure all of your attendees feel comfortable using the restroom.
- Urinals: Urinals are ideal for large events to compliment your standard and accessible portable toilet rentals. Urinals drastically reduce lines and use of your other units resulting in cleaner and more enjoyable experiences for all users.
- Luxury Trailers: Designed for events of all sizes, luxury trailers provide users with the best possible experience. Luxury trailers typically are typically climate controlled, including running water and flushing toilets. Learn more about our VIPee Luxury Trailer.
How often do portable toilets need to be serviced during an event?
Servicing of units depends on the length of the event. If your event is only a few hours or is small, you likely won’t need the units to be serviced during the event. If you have an all day or multi day large event we recommend getting the units serviced at least once a day, if not twice. No one likes using a dirty porta potty!
What are the considerations for placing portable toilets at an event?
- Access: It’s important that the company you rent units from is able to reach your desired placement. Placement along a road, or cleared area is ideal to ensure service technicians are able to reach the units.
- Distribution: In order to avoid long lines, Wasted* recommends evenly distributing the units around the event venue. This reduces lines and makes the units easier to access for all attendees. When grouping units at larger events, we recommend having at least one accessible unit per grouping.
- Level Ground: It’s key to place units on level ground, this ensures that service technicians are able to easily access the units and reduces the likelihood of a unit tipping over.
